15th August – Today In Our Footballing History

15/08/2012 Belfast Finland 3-3 Shane Ferguson, Kyle Lafferty, Martin Paterson (pen)

Roy Carroll (Lee Camp), Lee Hodson (Oliver Norwood), Gareth McAuley, Craig Cathcart, Chris Brunt (Jamie Ward), Chris Baird, Steven Davis, Shane Ferguson (Josh Carson), Dean Shiels, Kyle Lafferty (Martin Paterson)

Michael O’Neill (Northern Ireland Manager) –

“We started well with two good goals and I was obviously disappointed to lose that lead. In the second half we had to dig in and despite being careless at times we created opportunities and deserved to get the equaliser. I’m pleased with the performance and the young players I introduced near the end did very well.”

Martin Paterson’s late penalty secured a draw for Northern Ireland in an entertaining friendly at Windsor Park
