The Times – Saturday 8th May

Northern Ireland completed their home World Cup qualifying programme with a victory over Albania at Windsor Park, Belfast, last night. But it was not an impressive performance and leaves doubts about their ability to stage a repeat in the away leg at Tirana next October.

Best, who scored direct from a corner kick and Crossan, whose three goals included a penalty, scored for Ireland. Jashari, the outside left, scored Albania’s goal.
